Vernon Vipers forward Toms Trockis, Victoria Grizzlies goaltender Mikus Vecvanags and Chilliwack Chiefs forward Markuss Sieradzkis have been named the Lordco Auto Parts 3 Stars of the Week.
1st Star – Toms Trockis (F) – Vernon Vipers
Trockis averaged over two points per game last week, finishing up with two goals and three helpers in a pair of Vipers victories.
The Latvian forward notched a goal and an assist on Friday night, helping the Vipers defeat the Salmon Arm Silverbacks 5-1 to avenge their season opening loss to the ‘Backs. A night later, Trockis had a goal and two assists in a 7-3 win over the West Kelowna Warriors in Vernon’s home opener.
Trockis now has two goals and four assists in four games to start the year, while the Vipers have won three straight.
2nd Star – Mikus Vecvanags (G) – Victoria Grizzlies
Vecvanags posted a .968 save percentage over the weekend, stopping 60 of 62 combined shots for two wins and his first shutout of the season.
The 2024 Montreal Canadiens draft pick stopped 21 of 23 shots on Friday in the Grizzlies home opener, guiding his team to a 4-2 victory over the Surrey Eagles. On Sunday afternoon, Vecvanags was named first star of the game after making 39 saves to blank the Powell River Kings in a 1-0 road win in a game the Grizzlies were outshout 39-23.
After the first two weekends of the regular season, the Riga, Latvia product has played every minute for his team, winning all four contests and posting a .967 save percentage (second in the BCHL) and a 1.00 goals-against average (tied for first).
3rd Star – Markuss Sieradzkis (F) – Chilliwack Chiefs
Sieradzkis tied for the league lead in points last week, finishing with five in three games on three goals and two assists.
The second-year Chief scored a goal in all three games last week, starting with power-play goal on Wednesday in a 4-2 home loss to the Cowichan Valley Capitals. On Friday, he had a goal and an assist in a 5-2 road win over the Langley Rivermen, then capped his week with another two-point outing, including another power-play marker, in a 4-3 overtime triumph over the Coquitlam Express.
Sieradzkis is second in league scoring with eight points in five contests.
